From the President

CBUS is a Leader in Islamic Studies

Two Middle-Eastern young men were pulled over for a normal traffic stop, arrested and detained because a significant amount of explosives were found in their car. Since they were near a military base and their residence was in Florida, the question naturally arose, “Why are they driving around a military base with explosives in their car?”

A subsequent search of their residence in Florida unearthed enough evidence to hold them as possible terrorists. Muslim rights groups, such as C.A.I.R., are shouting that this is “racial profiling.” But is this true? The answer is no.

Israel has practiced “terrorist profiling” for many years. Today, almost all terrorist acts are committed by Arab Muslim males between the ages of 18-30. Since a Middle-Eastern Jew and a Middle-Eastern Arab look exactly the same, in terms of physical characteristics, obviously, Israel is not guilty of racial profiling when it retains those within the terrorist profile. We suggest you contact your local newspapers, magazines, politicians, etc. and remind them that we need to do “terrorist profiling.” The police were in their perfect right to stop and detain people that fit the profile of terrorists who seek to destroy this country. This is why CBUS’ Islamic Studies materials are so important. You should consider giving your pastor a scholarship to audit our course material on Islam. This would educate him to the clear and present dangers that we face today. If you feel that your understanding of Islam is defective, why not audit the World Religions course from CBUS? You do not have to take the tests, or write exam papers, You are merely seeking to gain the knowledge. CBUS’ Islamic Studies classes are one of the finest sources of information on Islam in Christian education today.

University Book Review

The JBA Series on Islam

All religions claim to tell us the truth about God, man's salvation and the universe. Yet, they do not make the same claims. One religion may claim that man is God or that the universe is God, while another religion may claim that man and the universe were created by God and are not God or gods at all. One religion may claim that there is only one God while another religion may claim that there are millions or even billions of gods.

Obviously, the religions of this world make different Truth claims.  In fact, they contradict each other on almost every point.  This is a sad but true fact of life that we both already understand and beilieve.

Yet, we all know people who claim: "All religions worship the same God." How foolish! How naive! The Hindu who worships millions of gods and goddesses is not worshipping the Allah of the Muslims.  The Christian, who worships one God in three Persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, is not worshipping the Allah of the Muslims either.  Each religion makes its own unique claim about the nature of deity.

There are ministries who pretend that the Qur'an speaks of the same God, Jesus, prophets, apostles, etc. found in the Bible.  They pretend that the Allah of the Qur'an is the God of the Bible and the Isa of the Qur'an is the Jesus of the Bible.  But, Paul warns us against accepting "a different Jesus" than the one revealed in Scripture (2 Cor. 11:4).*

Four of the JBA volumes are dedicated to the description and refutation of such claims about Islam.  Dr. Morey, who currently holds a Ph,D. in Islamic Studies, provides a thorough analysis of the Islamic religion.
